Pine Forest Canine Recipe with Venison & Legumes is rated out of 5 by 51.Rated 5 out of 5 by Jahma from Belgian Malinois working dog choice All my Belgian Malinois have done exceptionally well on Taste of Wild. I usually use the Wetlands formula, but have also had great success with the Pine Forest. I switched over to this formula when my current dog retired from active duty because he doesn't need as much fat/protein in retired status. I liked his stool is a bit firmer on this formula. However, you will need to adjust the quantity which I failed to do, so he lost weight because the caloric content is quite a bit less (375 vs. 337). Once I corrected that, he continues to do well and is now regaining lost weight. Coat, skin, eyes, excellent condition on both formulas. Energy and demeanor also excellent.Date published: 2017-06-03Rated 4 out of 5 by PaulG from Potato free I bought a bag from Chewy and all 3 of my dogs enjoyed it. They are picky eaters so I do add wet food to enhance the flavor. I have to do this with all dry kibble. I have fed them several of the TOW varieties. This one has no potatoes', so I like that. I avoid the ones with chicken, only because of allergies. I wish I new more about dog food ingredients. So little information available about how they are made and how ingredients are sourced. My dogs enjoy TOW and I will continue to rotate this product through their diet. The smoked Salmon formula is also good. And the Lamb.Date published: 2016-11-02Rated 5 out of 5 by Anch from Finally a food food that doesn't make my dog itch! My dog is alleric to potatoes and this dog food has none, which is very hard to find in a grain free food. He eats it right up and his coat is shiny. He has stopped licking his paws and itching! I hope they make a canned version soon. Thank you TOTW!!Date published: 2016-09-26Rated 5 out of 5 by Bowser from Saved my boy💚 My 6yr old great dane/pitbull mix has ALWAYS had awful allergies. Constant vet visits, bowel issues, HORRIBLE diarrhea, vomiting, hair loss, itchy skin and at his lowest he was 85lbs. We tried shots and pills and prescription dog food, so so much money!! Nothing helped. Until I switched him to this dog food. Now he has hair on his belly! Has normal bowels and no vomiting! He's not all red and itchy and is a healthy, solid 135lbs. My poor baby suffered for 4 years, bc no vet could figure out what was wrong or what could help......I'm so thankful for this dog food, and I know Bowser is too!Date published: 2023-07-05Rated 5 out of 5 by jess_in from Excellent food! My Golden Retriever loves it. I like that the venison is a lean protein, and that the formula has no potatoes. The vet tech recommended Taste of the Wild, and this formula keeps my dog's coat shiny and doesn't cause weight gain. I do feed much less than the bag recommends, as my girl isn't very active. She weighs 68 pounds and gets 1 cup twice a day.Date published: 2017-04-21Rated 5 out of 5 by krazybird from Great food! My dog loves this food! Glad to find a great quality food without the use of potatoes for my dog, as potatoes seem to be the cause of her butt glands not being able to express itself properly.Date published: 2016-10-18Rated 5 out of 5 by Kings Peak BackcountryLLC from Best food on the market! I run professional hunting dogs and when I feed them Taste of the Wild dog food, the difference in their performance is very obvious. Hi, Susan. All of our Taste of the Wild foods are all-grain free. While our Pine Forest Canine Formula is a great option, our Appalachian Valley Formula has the smallest kibble size. This formula is a great option for small breeds as the smaller kibble size makes it easier for your dog to chew and digest. Plus, this is a more energy-dense formula with higher protein so your dog will get the nutritional requirements it needs in smaller portions.Date published: 2018-04-22Hi. I was wondering if this, any, or all of your canine varieties are non GMO. I am in the process of overhauling my family's diet in order to avoid as many unnatural components as possible, I'd like to so the same for my dog. Thanks!
Hello, Taste of the Wild is committed to using as many GMO-free ingredients as possible in our formulas. However, there are ingredients that are critical to an animal’s health that are not available GMO-free in an adequate supply. He weighs 17 pounds. I was overwhelmed with the plethora of dog food available. After reading labels for hours I chose Venison & legumes. Gunner is his name ;-) How much food?
Congratulations on bringing Gunner into your family! Please refer to the feeding guide on your package of Pine Forest Canine with Venison & Legumes. Remember that the amounts listed on the package are expressed in the number of 8-ounce measuring cups (a standard kitchen measuring cup) to be fed per day. So, if it says 2 cups in the chart and you feed your dog twice daily, each meal should be 1 cup. However, each dog is different. They also have different activity levels. Feeding guides on pet food packaging are designed for adult dogs use one equation, figuring that most adult pets are “moderately” active. We suggest you monitor Gunner’s body condition and make sure to ask your veterinarian about any questions you may have.Date published: 2017-03-23Would this dog food provide a balanced diet for a pregnant and/or lactating dog?
