Rated 5 out of 5 by from My labrador puppy LOVED this food! After having some serious issues with grain inclusive foods, we switched our girl over to this brand and flavor. She absolutely loved it! Her coat was always shiny, her stools were back to normal, and she seemed to grow and develop really well for the first 10 months as well. Unfortunately, she didn't do so well on the other puppy formula, Pacific Stream, as she appeared to hate something about it. She did get bored of this flavor over-time and we switched her over to an All Life Stages wild boar blend. Overall, we loved this food for our pup.

It has high protein, quality ingredients, probiotics, with no corn, wheat, soy, bone meals or by products. It’s the only food we feed our 4 large breed dogs. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Puppy allergy Our puggle puppy has developed allergies that the vet believes to be food related. We started her on High Prairie Puppy formula bison and venison 4 weeks ago after her diagnosis. She loves the food and we are keeping our fingers crossed that this food will resolve her allergy. The vet said it can take 8 to 12 weeks before we'll know. Just wondering if any of your other customers have gone through a similar experience, any success stories you can share.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All the Puppies love Taste of the Wild Puppy I am a puppy trainer and we only use Taste of the Wild Puppy as training treats for all breeds of puppies. The pieces are small so that the puppies don't take long to chew so they aren't distracted from learning. All of the puppies love the taste. We also use the Taste of the Wild puppy food to put in the feeding toys and I recommend it to all of my clients.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The absolute best! When we brought our new family member home from the shelter we decided to stick with the food she was already eating which was Blue Food. She was 3 months old and everything was going great except when it was potty time. I noticed her stools were always super soft... a lot of the times even watery. I continued to monitor the progress for the next couple weeks and it was always consistent with soft/watery stools. At night time she would always pass really bad gas. It never failed. It was time to get to the bottom of things. After doing research online it turns out a lot of owners were experiencing the same problems my pup had while being on Blue Dog. The one brand that kept getting mentioned as a great alternative was Taste of the Wild. Those reviews led me to this site and after reading all the benefits and nutrients I decided it was time to make the change. I purchased the Roasted Bison & Roasted venison puppy version and began feeding very small portions. Her first time out to potty her stool was normal. It was still too early to say things were fixed so I continued to monitor her potty time. Lo and behold every time she went her stool was normal. She's been on this formula for about just a week and she has not had any stomach issues what so ever. I am so relieved. I'm not one to usually write reviews but because I'm a new puppy owner and everything was a learning process, good honest reviews is what I had to go on so I'm just trying to return the favor. Hopefully this helps someone out. Thank you Taste Of the Wild for making the best dog food! There is no other brand I trust. My Lola loves it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My puppy loves this formula!! I recently adopted a little 6 month old pup. This best thing to do by the way after you have lost one. And have had time to mourn. The adoption place told me to feed him purina puppy chow. Now I have nothing against this company and firmly believe that there products are not harmful. But when you see all the commercials and hear the buzz about the ingredients it makes you wonder what is really in it? Would I be happy feeding that to my child who wanting a good diet? After I switched it was amazing how "Pluto" my little puppys overall well being is far more that what pedigree or purina have to offer. I but this at my local Tractor Supply store if you were needing a close place to buy. All the reviews about this dog food held up in my book. And am confident now that my little guy is getting healthy natural dog food, with real ingredients that I feel comfortable with this company and highly recommend you switch for your dog soon too!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Our Puppy Is eating better. We were feeding our Husky mix another puppy food recommended by the breeder. Loki was only nibbling on the food throughout the day. We were feeding our older dog TOTW canned food and mixing a little in with Loki’s food, but he was still not eating well. We have gradually switched him over to TOTW High Prairie puppy food and he’s eating much better. Unfortunately we recently lost our oldest dog, and since we have some TOTW canned food available we are mixing a bit more in with his dry food.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Helped our Rescue Puppy Recover! Miss Piggy was rescued from a puppy mill. The owners had abandoned all the dogs before authorities arrived. Over 40 dogs died, and only five survived. Miss Piggy was one of the five. She was only five months old, terrified, underweight and suffering from intense digestive upset. We tried other puppy food but her severe tummy upset and bleeding continued. We switched her to Taste of the Wild High Prairie Puppy food and she finally began improving and thriving. There is no question in my mind that the quality of the ingredients in this food set Miss Piggy on the path to healing. It will be our food of choice for her from now on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My puppy loves TOTW I brought my mini aussie home at 6 weeks and she has been on this formula since day 1 not one problem transitioning from breeders food to this. Just watch dates when you purchase it some retailers let it set on shelf to long but as long as it's fresh your pup will probably love it like mine. 6 weeks to 6 months great food.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Max loves this food. For the past 9 months I’ve been feeding my German Shepherd Eukanuba large breed puppy. Over these past 9 months he’s had gastro issues. Since switching to TOTW Puppy (exactly 1 month ago) all of these issues have resolved themselves. He’s 1 year now and I will continue with the puppy food for a couple of more months then on to the adult TOTW. Excellent product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My number one choice for dog food. Titan, my 7 month old Cane corso devoures his bowl within minutes! Titan loves the bison flavors the most and I love that it’s grain free. Finding a healthy, safe and nutritious food option for him after learning he had a grain allergy was difficult but Taste of the Wild made it easy for me. I was especially happy that they had a puppy formula, lots of grain free brands only had adults formulas and I worried about Titan getting all the right nutrients. He’s grown tremendously, his coat has become shinnier and soft. While his muscle development has greatly improved since switching to this food he’s also lost lots of his puppy fat and really grown into his adult body. I highly recommend Taste of the Wild to anyone with dogs, in all stages of their lives. The whole ingredients, healthy recipes and variety of options in flavors and meals make this brand a winner for all.

We had already tried a different brand and were not happy with that, immediately. Our puppy, Sophi loves Taste of the wild! She is growing very strong, happy and healthy! She has a great appetite and healthy bathroom functions! We will stick with Taste of the Wild for her entire life!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Harley the Chocolate Lab Loves It! We have an 8 week old chocolate lab. TOTW High Prarie Puppy is what we started him on transitioning from the food the breeder gave them. After a day or two he had normal solid stools (no more watery poops) and seems to really enjoy the kibble. Every time he hears the container opening his eyes get big! He doesn't finish a whole bowl in one sitting yet but is getting enough and has the energy and healthy coat to prove it. Harley will be a TOTW Pup for life!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New Puppy Approved We just got a 8 week old Cane Corso and switched him right away to this brand of food. After much research and reviews the ingredients in this are such a better quality then most others. He not only has been loving the taste but we are loving the benefits. The excrement has been solid and has not caused any upset stomach or diarrhea. We have even enrolled in a subscription so our precious pup gets this great food each month right to the door. He is happy he will never go with out and we are happy because we are feeding him only the best. Well done Taste of the Wild!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HAPPY PUP, HAPPY PARENTS! We adopted a 2 month old pitbull puppy 3 months ago after she had battled severe neglect and Parvo. She was about 8-10 lbs when we got her, you could see and count every rib in her body and this was after a phenomenal foster family had cared for her for about a month. We did lots of research on various foods especially for those with a history of parvo and kept coming across this brand. We purchased it and she LOVES IT! Her body handles it well and she is weighing in at a heft 30ish pounds these days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Jaq LOVES High Prairie! We switched Jaq, our new Labradoodle, to Taste of the Wild immediately upon bringing him home after recently losing our 10 year old family dog. We also fed him Taste of the Wild. We’re a military family and will be moving to Colorado in just a few weeks. We thought the High Prairie would be a perfect blend for Jaq and we were right! It hasn’t upset his stomach once, it wasn’t a rough transition from what the breeder was feeding him, and he absolutely LOVES his feeding times! We’re also using it as his “treats” he loves it so much! Keep up the good work!! We have no plans in changing dog food anytime soon!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Akita keeps puking whole food up I have and continue to rely mainly on this product but our almost 4 month old Akita keeps puking her food up in whole bits. We feed the correct amount and found out recently her mother has a shortened esophagus and her flap is flaccid causing vomiting spells and acid reflux. The original owners told me that last week when I asked if she would get sick constantly as a puppy for them. I was wondering if there is any recommendations on diets to prevent vomiting so much and if the canned food has less acids? We do have a vet appointment scheduled for next month for a new pet check up and for a full exam.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My dog eats better than I do My dog is a newer convert to Taste of the Wild but loves it so far! He can't eat chicken every day which makes finding a dry food a little tougher but this puppy food is great for him. It does appear that both of the Prairie adult foods do contain chicken though so I'll have to hope there's another flavor without it! Usually the bottom of dog food labels includes things I can't pronounce but this is full of healthy ingredients even at the bottom of the label

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My name is Nikita the Wolf And I endorse this food. When I first came to my new home my former owner had been feeding me corn based products and my feces was yellow and loose. My wonderful Pack Commander, Howard, switched me to Taste of the Wild and things cleared right up. Now I, and all my pups (22 so far) , eat this regular and have it supplemented with venison...Yum!

At what age should I transition from puppy to adult formula? Thanks, Kevin

Asked by: Kevin
Hi Kevin, thanks for your question. We recommend you work with your veterinarian to determine the right time to transition your pet. As a general guide, we recommend feeding puppy food until 10-12 months of age. For giant breeds, between 12-18 months of age is a good time to make the transition to adult food.

I have a 75 pound pit that just turned 1. I also have a 4 month old pit that is 45 pounds (neither of the dogs are over weight). I have been feeding them the same food but now the male is a year old is the puppy food still ok to feed him?

Asked by: Nate
Hi, Nate. This formula will absolutely work for both of your dogs. We recommend you to talk to your veterinarian about the right time to transition your pet. As a general guide, we recommend feeding puppy food until 10-12 months of age. For giant breeds, between 12-18 months of age is a good time to make the transition to adult food. While High Prairie Puppy was developed for growing puppies, it is formulated to meet the nutritional needs for dog of all life stages.

I was wondering what the calcium/phosphorus ratio was for this diet. My vet is concerned about the ratio for my large breed puppy. Thanks.

Asked by: ArizonaSkies
Our High Prairie Puppy formula has a calcium to phosphorus ratio of 1.4:1.0 which meets the AAFCO recommendations for large breed puppies. Additionally, all of our all life stages foods were formulated with large breed puppies in mind and contain the correct balance of calcium to phosphorus. How often do I feed my 4 month old puppy and how much each time

Asked by: Emma1
Hi, Emma and congrats on the new addition to your family! We recommend starting with the feeding guide printed on the side gusset of the bag and making adjustments based on your pup’s activity level, body condition and age. It can also be found on our website https://www.tasteofthewildpetfood.com/dog-formulas/high-prairie-puppy-formula-with-bison-roasted-venison/. We’ve put together a feeding guide below for you to consider. 4 months of age, consider 3–4 meals per day 4–6 months of age, consider 2–3 meals per day 6 months and older, consider two meals per day If you have any questions, please contact us by visiting our website https://www.tasteofthewildpetfood.com/contact-us/.

HI, I have purchased this and salmon for my 7mo. puppy but won't eat the puppy version. Only the Adult version which we feed our other dog. Is it okay to feed my puppy adult food if it's the only kind she will eat?

Asked by: AmyCandlin
Hi, Amy. High Prairie Canine Formula was developed as a maintenance diet and does not provide the nutrition puppies need. We would recommend trying our other puppy formula, Pacific Stream Puppy, or one of our all life stages formulas such as Pine Forest, which is a venison-based formula like High Prairie.
