Rated 5 out of 5 by from My finicky Husky loves it ! Our dog can be pretty finicky, tried different premiums but she seems to like this and the Wild Boar and Lamb the best. We like the chunks and thick gravy, We mix it with dry food and she really loves it. We feel good feeding her Taste of the Wild.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from English Pointer Puppy My 10 week old Pointer puppy was started on Pro Plan Focus Puppy. When I brought him home, I noticed he had loose stools and wasn’t completely in love with his food. I did tons of research and decided TOTW Puppy was the best option when considering balanced ingredients, proper calcium:phosphorus ration, and calories per cup. After switching, my puppy’s stools are firm, he has boundless energy, and gobbles up his food. He loves it so I love it. I recently switched my 2 Jack Russels to TOTW adult food. They are doing great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My German Shepherd Can't get enough! Our German shepherd puppy is almost 10 months and she loves food! We experimented 2 other brands before taste of the wild. After one cup of this stuff she was bouncing off the walls! She is always ready to eat! We find that it also helps keep her fur soft and shiny and who doesn't want a soft fur baby?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from GLASS SHARD I have been feeding this specific can to my 9 week old puppy ever since I got him. I’ve gone through a couple cans already I usually use a spoon to scoop it out. I’m feeding my pup and the cans a quarter empty and I see this flat piece at first I thought it was plastic then I saw that it was a piece of glass! my pup could have ingested it! I’m a little iffy about this no can of food should ever have such hazards!

My dog has recently been diagnosed with diabetes. We gave her too many treats that were not good for her.  Since the diagnosis, we are trying to feed her low carbohydrate food. We are looking for a canned food that has low carbs. Please advise.

Hello, thank you for reaching out, and we’re sorry to hear about your dog’s diagnosis. Our High Prairie Canine Recipe with Bison in Gravy contains 3.3% carbohydrates on an as-fed basis, and 15.6% carbohydrates on a dry matter basis. Our canned recipe with the lowest carbohydrate content is our Southwest Canyon Canine Recipe with Beef in Gravy, which contains 2.4% carbohydrates on an as-fed basis, and 11.2% carbohydrates on a dry matter basis. However, we do not make any canned recipes for dogs with diabetes or specific medical conditions. Where are your can dog foods processes and packaged? Is any of the ingrediants from China?

Asked by: Henry
Hi, Henry. Our canned formulas are manufactured in the U.S. in state-of-the-art facilities. Please know, most of the ingredients in Taste of the Wild originate in the U.S., however, there are critical ingredients in our recipes (i.e. folic acid and taurine) that can only be obtained from China. We believe leaving out these ingredients would not be in the best interest of your pet.

Are your canned dog foods gluten free?

Asked by: Sandi
Hello, Sandi and thanks for reaching out! Our TOTW recipes do not contain any gluten ingredients. However, the food is not produced in a totally gluten-free facility, which means there may be trace amounts of gluten in the food. Please know, our facilities adhere to stringent quality protocols, have a dedicated quality assurance and safety staff and follow “Good Manufacturing Processes” protocols. These protocols include “clean breaks” between each batch of product in which production areas and equipment are cleaned and sanitized, the use of ingredients are carefully controlled and finished product samples are tested. Your dog food has a lot of quality ingredients however can you speak about sodium selenite? This seems to be the only questionable ingredient that the vet mentions and upon online research. Is this important to have included vs other organic sources?

Asked by: Travis
Hello, thanks for contacting us. Sodium selenite is a synthetic form of selenium, an essential trace mineral necessary for normal immune function and reproduction. Selenium is not present in the ingredients in adequate amounts to meet recommended levels without adding an additional source. It is very safe at the levels that are used in our recipes. All of our recipes and ingredients meet both Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) and U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) standards.

From where do you source your ingredients?

Asked by: Tony
Hi, Tony! Thanks for your question. Most of the ingredients in Taste of the Wild originate in the U.S., however, there are critical ingredients that are not available domestically in an adequate supply or with as much quality as our international supply. For example, lamb meal and venison from Australia, potato protein from Germany and dried chicory root from Belgium. We believe omitting these ingredients would not be in the best interest of your pet. How much processing/cooking is there in the canned foods?

Asked by: BethB
Hello and thanks for reaching out! We apologize for the delayed response. The ingredients are first cooked in a process similar to cooking a stew or soup. Next, the mixture undergoes canning, much like human foods. This process includes cooking the filled cans again under high pressure, which sterilizes the contents.
