Trout Limited Ingredient Recipe for Dogs
We believe everyone deserves to experience the benefits of simpler and cleaner eating. And that includes our pets. Limited ingredient diets may also be easier for some dogs to digest. In this simplified, limited ingredient recipe, real trout raised in spring-fed waters is the first of just four key ingredients. Along with chicken fat, trout also provides omega fatty acids that help maintain skin and coat health. Species-specific probiotics further support digestion, while guaranteed levels of antioxidants and DHA help support overall well-being. Finally, carefully selected vitamins and minerals ensure your dog is getting the balanced nutrition they require with the unique taste of trout they’ll crave.

Trout Limited Ingredient Recipe for Dogs is rated out of 5 by 395.Rated 5 out of 5 by Pats from Shibas love Prey I tried Prey with the Shiba Inu dogs and they love it! No stomach upsets on a clean switch and healthy looking coats and stools.Date published: 2018-01-09Rated 5 out of 5 by Shelley from Great food! Fewer Vet Visits! I have been feeding Taste of the Wild Pacific for quite a few years now, and switched to the Prey formula when it came out. All my dogs were doing great on the other with the exception of my really sensitive Chinese Crested who just needed bit more limited food. Generally speaking, Taste of the Wild has done wonders for all my dogs health. My lab no longer has chronic ear or anal gland infections. My Mexican Hairless has better skin. My Chihuahua isn't a gassy mess anymore. The biggest difference is in my Chinese Crested who suffers from epilepsy and allergies. Her seizures were reduced by more than half by diet alone and her skin has greatly improved as well. Taste of the Wild is one of the few foods that doesn't contain Rosemary Extract which can be a huge trigger in seizure disorders. Plus, it has all the recommended probiotics and omegas that are recommended to keep inflammation down. I am so glad y'all came up with a limited ingredient line! I have tried the Angus and Trout. I think I am gonna stick with the Trout for now even though they loved them both!! Thank you!Date published: 2018-04-22Rated 5 out of 5 by rachelp3 from I received this product complimentary in exchange for my complete and honest review. The dog food flavor that I received in my box was the Trout flavor. Immediately I was excited because I know that my dog LOVES food with fish ingredients. As soon as I opened the bag he went bananas. I poured the PREY in with his current dog food brand and he ate all the trout first and then proceeded to eat the other brand afterwards. This product has so many good benefits with natural ingredients how could any dog hate it! The only con to this food is the smell! YUCK - but hey, what dog food doesn't smell?! Thanks Influenster you just found me another product to switch too! Taste of the Wild PREY Trout Formula for DogsDate published: 2018-04-09Rated 5 out of 5 by Pam 2018 from Love it!! This product being grain free / fish based / non GMO / and no flax & peas drew me to it right way! Brought home a small bag to check it out: nice size kibble: not so small that they wil choke on it and not so big where they really have to work it. It has been well accepted as training treats this morning - so added it into current food to begin change over. Happy Havanese Show Breeder - so far so good!!Date published: 2018-02-11Rated 5 out of 5 by Aurora123 from Great for my dog with multiple allergies! My dog is a blue brindle American Staffordshire who's allergic to grains, beef and chicken. The trout flavor was the first food I could find that didn't make her super itchy or give her ear infections! Her coat also made a tremendous improvement from dry, flaky and itchy to super soft and shiny! Unfortunately both of my local Tractor Supply's stopped carrying the Prey Limited Ingredients in all flavors, and I can't find anywhere online with the trout flavor in stockDate published: 2018-09-12Rated 2 out of 5 by suehammy from I have a mixed review on this product. I have two dogs - one who has an iron stomach and one who has a sensitive stomach. The one with the iron stomach loved this food, gobbled it up, and came back for more. My other dog with the sensitive stomach was interested and ate it, but then had an upset stomach later that night. I had even tried to slowly integrate the new food into his diet but adding a small amount to his existing food, but this did not help. I'm uncertain if it's the foot, itself, or the specific formula. I typically feed my dogs poultry-formula foods.Date published: 2018-04-12Rated 5 out of 5 by Sally B from Love this food!! I was thrilled to find Taste of the Wild Prey at my local pet store. My dogs have allergies and this seems to suit them very well. They are excited about it when it is time to eat. Please don't stop making it. It is perfect!!Date published: 2018-01-26Rated 5 out of 5 by jamiepaigetay from I've been buying my Australian Shepherd Taste of the Wild food for 6 years now because she has a lot of food allergies. She LOVES every flavor and type they have and she's never been disappointed. The PREY type is great because it's limited with the ingredients and she LOVES the trout flavor. I def. recommend this to anyone! I received this product to try #complimentary for testing purposes.Date published: 2018-04-03Rated 5 out of 5 by garththebasset from Great for lots of allergies! Our basset has a ton of food allergies and this the first time he has been off all his meds. It's really hard to find a food without potato, rice, peas, corn, etc. He also has a sensitive tummy with bloat issues, but he never bloats with this. We are so thankful!Date published: 2018-03-02Rated 5 out of 5 by Twodanemom from Our two Great Danes love it!! We have two Great Danes under 2 years old. Our female Dane was having issues with her skin and coat, she was having acne like no other and she was starting to lose hair. We were told to try and stay away from chicken based foods and try a limited ingredient, she has made a complete 360 she has no acne left and her hair has grown back in the spots it was missing! Our male Great Dane is picky on what food he will eat but he loves this one!Date published: 2018-10-14Rated 5 out of 5 by lacyhd159 from I love that Taste of the Wild Prey has limited ingredients, non-GMO, and grain free! We have a 77lb plush coat shepherd who has allergy’s to beef and other grains. He was able to eat the food without any problems . I really like that the food contains omega Fatty acids to make his coat shinny and to help his itchy dry skin, since we are changing seasons. The only issue I had with the food is the flavor; Trout. It seemed Roo did not like the flavor as he did not eat all the dog food. Usually he loves fish. He also really loves duck flavored food. Other than the flavor, I give the food two thumbs up! I would definitely recommend Taste of the Wild product. I received PREY Dog Food free/complimentary from Influenster. Taste of the Wild PREY Trout Formula for DogsDate published: 2018-05-14Rated 5 out of 5 by bls77 from My Aussie loves this food My dog is super picky about his food. He is 6 and will usually only eat a brand/flavor for about a year before saying I'm all done with that find me something new to eat. And also has a strict affinity for duck food so over time the options became more limited as to what I could bring home because he's already had or rejected it. And by rejection I mean there are some he would flat out just flip the bowl over. I decided to go outside the box and try your limited recipe trout recipe. He absolutely loved it. And I found it to meet all my dietary requirements as well. Thanks totw.Date published: 2022-05-01Rated 5 out of 5 by surruhbean from My boys LOVE the Taste of the Wild food (especially the Venison or Salmon!) so it came to no surprise that they love the new PREY food as well! We got the Trout flavor and my 2 Boston Terriers gobbled it all up! My younger one has skin issues and sensitivity when it comes to dog foods so I love that I can have piece of mind giving him this know he won’t have any issues! Thank you Influenster! *Although I received this product free for reviewing purposes, all opinions are my own*Date published: 2018-04-03Rated 5 out of 5 by nataliesce53 from I don’t know how helpful my review will be because my dog would honestly eat anything but here I go :) . I have a big Labrador retriever and he’s about 11 years old. I decided to let him try this food when he was having issues with his appetite. He wasn’t eating his breakfast in the morning when usually he crushes it within 2 minutes. So I decided to mix this dog food with his other food and he seemed to really enjoy it! Any time I went towards the baggies he would go nuts!Date published: 2018-05-08Rated 4 out of 5 by tayslay from I was pretty pleased with this dog food brand. I really like that the ingredients are limited so my dog doesn't have a bunch of stuff he doesn't need. Especially since he is sensitive to certain things. Overall, my dog approved. He seemed to enjoy it and finished both samples. It did take him a bit to try it since it was new but he did eat it all. I could definitely see myself getting him onto this brand. The only thing I'd change is how potent the fish smell is. It's pretty dang fishy smelling. I'd of liked for Yaga to try another flavor as well to see if he liked it.Date published: 2018-04-07Rated 4 out of 5 by alexandrab8d8b from So I have not be able to use this as my dogs main food because I couldn’t transition the food fully with the amount we received in our box but I will say that my dogs loved this as treats. They would get really excited when I pulled out one of these bags and that says a lot considering I have so many other treats in the house and they don’t get as excited for them. This is probably a great food for dogs too as the ingredients list is very limited.Date published: 2018-04-29Rated 5 out of 5 by brandiegravesxxx from Haggis was so excited when the mail was actually for him for once! We received some @tasteofthewildpetfood from @influenster to try out #complimentary and we are not disappointed! I love that Taste of the Wild Prey has limited ingredients, is non-GMO, and is grain free meaning it is good for my pup, because after all.... he is my baby, and I want him to be around as long as possible. After starting with small bits as a treat, he didn’t have any stomach problems over night so dinner the next day was on and cracking! I would definitely recommend this brand.Date published: 2018-05-10Rated 1 out of 5 by Kyle from Not sure what’s in here I’ve been feeding my pit taste of the wild food from day 1 of adopting him. I saw this new “prey trout” and decided to give it a try. Being 65$ for less food vs the normal 49$ bag it’s definitely a steeper price point but figured it had to be a hit. I’m not sure if I got a bad bag or something but my pit will barely touch this food. He loves the normal flavors taste of the wild carries, but something about this he did not like. Even when he does eat it he acts very tired and restless after and does not act himself. I will not continue to use the “prey” line of food I’ll go back to the original formulas. Should’ve never tried this one from the beginning. 65$ down the drain!!!!! If your dog likes the normal flavor, stick with it.Date published: 2019-04-18Rated 3 out of 5 by Champ from Testing the Prey waters Our 8 month old charcoal lab has tried Taste of the Wild, which resulted in slight redness and allergic reactions. We switched to a more basic meal, which lessened the allergies; however still present with the itching his paws, and stomach area. We introduced some salmon oil with his food, which had a decent result, still scratching. We were told of Taste of the Wild Prey, and just ordered a bag. Hopefully this does the trick.Date published: 2020-04-03Rated 4 out of 5 by Stellashuman from 1yo Golden Retriever I have a 55lb golden retriever female. Normally we buy Taste of the Wild, Pacific Stream flavor. And Stella loved it, she finished all of it every time which is not like her with other dry foods. I recently switched to taste of prey, (in the trout flavor) because I liked that it had fewer ingredients. She seems to not like taste, she will only eat a little at a time. I really wanted her to like this as much as the other food.Date published: 2019-01-02Rated 5 out of 5 by lyndseyb from I was nervous when I received the Taste of the Wild Prey food to test out with my pups. They are very picky eaters. I received this complimentary of influenster. It isn't a bad price when I checked my local store and I think we may be switching to this food. My pups really enjoyed it and I love that it is grain free with natural ingredients. The puppy stream was a little hard on his stomach so we switched to the trout prey food and it’s been a game changer! He actually even gained weight (healthy weight) and hasn’t had any stomach issues like before. He was having some food allergies. He used to throw up a lot. Really happy we found this limited ingredient food for him.Date published: 2022-07-26Rated 1 out of 5 by KSL73 from Disappointed that Sunflower Oil Is Taken Out We have a dog with lots of allergies, and this food has worked great for her. Unfortunately, the sunflower oil is now being replaced with chicken fat and that will rule out this formula due to allergies. I called TOTW, and was told that because the chicken fat is preserved with mixed tocopherols it will not trigger the allergy - but today, my vet told me that is inaccurate and it will definitely trigger symptoms. Chicken fat is almost always a highly processed by-product extracted from chicken meal or "leftover" cuts of chicken. It is not nearly as healthy for your dog - but it sure is cheap. I am not sure if the change is being made due to supply issues to simply because they are looking out for a higher profit margin (which is my guess). I would prefer to pay a couple more dollars a bag and have the sunflower oil, which is a great source of essential fatty acids and makes dogs' coats shine. What a shame.Date published: 2022-06-24Rated 5 out of 5 by alamachia from I received this sample for free from Influenster in return for my unbiased review. The package is very eye catching but being the picky dog mom I am I skipped right to the back. I love that this kibble is truly is LIMITED INGREDIENT. I love its gluten and wheat free and that the protein source is pure. I have a pup with some serious food allergies and she's the reason I've become a picky and informed dog momma. My other pup can literally eat anything....but only the best is purchased for my girls. If this sample at a glance didn't meet my standards it never would have met their mouths. But sample it they did....and they gobbled it out like they hadn't beed fed in a month so they must have loved it. Now they are on wellness core now and love it...I love it for them and now my entire extended family uses it too...so I don't see us changing kibbkes... but this product is certainly a future contender. Taste of the Wild PREY Trout Formula for DogsDate published: 2018-04-06Rated 5 out of 5 by brittanis1 from I am really happy that I was included to test this dog food out for free thanks to PREY and influenster. My dogs literally love this dog food, which was surprising because they are very picky. I slowly introduced the food to them as treats when they came in from using the restroom. Then started mixing it little by little into their food. Soon I switched to give them this food alone. I did this to make sure it did not upset their stomach and they liked it. It worked great and they absolutely love it. I would definitely recommend this dog food as my dogs seems to really enjoy it! Just if you do switch foods, my only caution is to do it little by little which this brand also recommends! Great dog food and great company. I will definitely purchase this food and brand again!Date published: 2018-04-26Rated 5 out of 5 by erint6 from My dog is SO picky with dog food. Honestly, she prefers to eat a little bit of human food (chicken, salmon, steak) and will only eat her kibble as a last resort. She is a small 12 pound fluffy dog. I got a Prey dog food sample for free from Influenster. I thought my dog would have the same reaction to this food as others. I was so shocked when she gobbled it right up!! She is obsessed. Hallelujah. Finally, a dog food she loves that is good for her too. Only took 10 years to find it haha. Happy day, happy dog!Date published: 2018-04-26Rated 3 out of 5 by Alli128 from Love the limited ingredients but didn't work I have a 2 year-old boxer with many allergies. We received a recommendation for this brand and I love how the ingredients are so limited. My dog is not a picky eater but he would not eat this food - specifically the trout version. We slowly transitioned him over to this food but he still doesn't seem fond of the taste. Additionally, despite cross referencing the ingredient list against our dog's blood allergy test results, this food still results in watery stool every day (it has been about 2.5 weeks now).Date published: 2020-07-15Rated 5 out of 5 by Little Butt from layla approved Hi I'm Layla & I'm almost 2 from little on I have been enjoying Taste of the Wild. I have developed some food allergies & the different blends have helped me find what works for me as I hope it will for you. Thank You Taste of the WildDate published: 2022-05-12Rated 1 out of 5 by AzFire from My dog refuses to eat I have a 15 month old German Shepherd Dog and she just refuses to eat this. She'll take a little nibble then nothing. Left in her bowl and over two days she'd just go up to it sniff and walk away and then give me a look like when are you gonna feed me. I was shocked because I give her salmon based treats and she loves these. I figure since she liked fish treats she like this food. It sucks because I'm a disabled vet and now I gotta try and find some extra money somewhere to buy new food for her.Date published: 2020-08-12Rated 5 out of 5 by Natalie3 from Puppers love it Both my girls love it and has done wonders for my younger one who has both allergies and a sensitive stomach.
